Hi! My name is Kayleigh Thompson. I am an elementary education major with a math and science minor. I currently work at Home Again Early Childhood Education Center and I am a Lead Toddler Teacher. I love my job and what I am going to school for.
I totally agree with that project- based learning has so many benefits that traditional teaching just does not offer! As you mentioned in this approach the students are working with real world applications, which are meaningful to them. It is a big difference than having them sit and do something you want them to do and later have no clue why they ever learned it. I also agree with you that it is important for the students to learn how to work collaboratively with others. We will gain skills on how to compromise, listen to differing views of others, push their group mates to work harder, etc…We just cannot get these life skills by sitting in a classroom. I am with you on the excitement to learn more about PBL.
